Who should attend: Mental Health Professionals who work as Parenting Coordinators, Mediators, Child Specialists, Divorce Coaches, Child Interviewers and Mediators who are not lawyers.

The intention is that this course will qualify for the 21 hours required for mental health professionals to do PC Work.

The PC Roster Society is trying to get a sense of how many people are interested in attending the training to determine the venue.

The course has been described as follows by the Instructor, Mr Boyd:

The course is intended to address the requirements of s. 6(1)(b)(ii)(d) of the FLA Regulation, which says this in respect of the training required of persons who are not lawyers:

he or she has completed at least 21 hours of family law training provided by the Justice Institute of British Columbia, by the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia or by any other training provider that is recognized as providing high quality training in that field

As a result, given that there are three days to fill, it will be a comprehensive discussion of family law, including property division, but will focus on the provisions of the FLA and DA about children as that’s what our [PC] members and other mental health professionals will likely wish to learn.
