This intensive 5-day course focuses on developing the skills needed to conduct family dispute arbitrations. Through a combination of seminars and skills workshops, the participants learn the essentials of conducing arbitrations — from the preliminary meeting, to hearing procedure, to decision writing.
There is also a take-home decision-writing exam. Those best able to benefit from the course are experienced family dispute practitioners. The Law Society of BC recognizes the course for CPD credits. The course is the only one recognized by BCAMI as fulfilling the training requirement for the Certified Family Arbitrator accreditation (which must be applied for separately).
