Laurence has been practicing law since he was Called to the Bar in 1990. He has been practicing exclusively in the area of divorce and family law since 1995, most recently at the law offices of Baker Newby LLP in the Fraser Valley.
Laurence has been a qualified Family Law Mediator since 2002. He is accredited as a Parenting Coordinator, a Family Law Mediator and a Family Law Arbitrator by the Law Society of British Columbia.
Laurence has always focused on reaching fair and responsible solutions for parents and their children while trying to minimize the conflict and the cost brought about by family breakdown.
Laurence was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2016. He was recently reappointed to a second term as a Governor of the Law Foundation of British Columbia. Laurence formerly served as an elected Member of the Provincial Council of the Canadian Bar Association (BC) and Chair of the Legal Aid Committee of the Canadian Bar Association (BC). He also served two terms as President of the New Westminster Bar Association.
